The Ask
Partner with muralist and emerging artist @gabegault, to create a first-of-it's-kind experience exploring his interpretation of Afrofuturism and Black history within Horizon Worlds. This world would be the first activation of the new Metaverse Culture Series.
The Challenge
With Gabe's background as a traditional artist, and Horizon World's capacity limitations, the biggest challenge was simplifying his concepts into primitive geometric shapes without losing the spirit of what we were trying to convey. With Gabe being completely new to VR, I spent time onboarding him to Horizon Worlds and the Quest 2 headset. I led the world building effort, scripting + constructing the majority of it myself while providing guidance to other builders brought in to support. Upon completion, I also handled all the filming for the time-lapse and flythroughs for use on different social channels.
