The Ask
Develop eye-catching cover art for the BTS Music Pack, ahead of the Facebook Connect conference on September 16.
The Challenge
The cover art had to capture the energy of the BTS music and positivity of the TinyTAN brand. At the same time, the cover art had to stay true to Beat Saber aesthetics and Big Hit's creative guidelines. This would be Beat Saber's largest music pack, it's most impactful collaboration and the most visually compelling in-game environment to-date. The cover art had to both promote how special this music pack was and excite the community and BTS ARMY. The biggest challenge was designing cover art that was inspired by an in-game environment that was still being completed. After several iterations, I landed on a "Dreamy World" concept, letting early concept art inform my design approach.
The Impact
The launch was met with rabid enthusiasm, with many consumers buying Quest headsets specifically to play this music pack and many others re-engaging with music packs they've already purchased. The BTS pack is one of the best-selling Beat Saber packs to-date and some press observed how far Beat Saber had come, given that they'd partnered with the biggest band in the world.
